REpresenting the Bible
When I started my new video Bible study series, I was tempted to jump straight into the “deep” or difficult passages—the ones that spark debate, raise questions, and stretch our understanding. And while Wisdom at The Well is absolutely designed to create space for those tensions in our faith, I felt led to begin somewhere else.
The foundation.
I’m excited to share that the first two videos of Wisdom at The Well are now live on the Well Woman Movement YouTube channel. And instead of beginning with difficulty, I’m beginning with clarity—because how we approach Scripture matters just as much as what we’re reading.
Episode One: How to Study the Bible (Part 1)
In the first video, I walk through the essentials of biblical interpretation—what many call biblical hermeneutics. This isn’t about making the Bible complicated; it’s about learning how to handle it with care and integrity.
We explore:
What biblical hermeneutics actually is
Why interpretation matters more than we often realize
The difference between exegesis and eisegesis
Foundational rules that help us read Scripture with clarity and honesty
Episode Two: How to Study the Bible (Part 2)
In the second video, we build on the foundation from Episode One by looking at something that is often overlooked but incredibly important—genre.
Scripture is not one-dimensional. It includes poetry, narrative, prophecy, law, wisdom literature, and more. And each of these genres communicates differently.
In this episode, we walk through:
The major genres found in Scripture
Why genre shapes interpretation
Key questions to ask before applying any text to our lives
Everything taught in Episodes 1–2 is also captured in my ScriptHer Notes Bible Study Journal available on Amazon. I created this as a done-for-you resource to guide your personal devotion time—something practical you can return to daily as you learn how to study Scripture with intention.
In the next episode, we’ll get practical. I’ll be sharing Bible study tools, resources, and tips to help you actually apply what we’re learning in your personal study time.
If you’re ready to go deeper—not just in knowledge, but in understanding—I invite you to walk through this series with me. Make sure you subscribe to the Well Woman Movement YouTube channel so you don’t miss what’s next. Each video is a step forward, and I’d love for you to be part of this journey as we find Wisdom at The Well together.
This is just the beginning.
